TRENTON, NJ – A rise in car thefts has been occurring in Trenton and police are warning residents that cars are being targeted with the use of master keys.

“The City of Trenton has been experiencing a rise in thefts. In most cases, these vehicles are being stolen by use of master keys or similar devices,” the department said. “The Trenton Police Department would like to strongly encourage owners of these types of vehicles to take measures to deter thieves.

Anti-theft devices and alarms, as well as parking in well-lit areas, are all steps that can be taken to discourage potential suspects.

These thefts are being actively investigated by the Trenton Police Auto Theft Unit.
