Four people injured after church van crashed in Queens

New York, NY- a van full of church members from the Church of God and Prophecy in Ozone Park crashed while traveling on the New York City Thruway.

Four passengers were reported in critical condition. According to police, the group was on their way home from a trip to Niagara Falls when the driver swerved to avoid another car on the highway. While attempting to get out of the way, the driver lost control and the vehicle crashed, according to the New York State Police. The incident happened in the area of Athens, NY.

Four of the passengers were rushed to Albany Medical Center for critical and some life threatening injuries. The other passengers and the driver was uninjured in the crash.

“We thank God that all involved are in a place to receive the appropriate care needed and expect full recoveries across the board,” church officials said after the crash. “We do ask everyone to keep our church members, their families, and our church at large in your prayers, as well as respect the privacy of our church as we navigate this unfortunate situation.”
