ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – A Mays Landing drug dealer was observed selling drugs as detectives from the Atlantic City Police Department’s Special Investigations Section conducted a surveillance operation in the area of the first block of south Texas Avenue.
That operation was launched in response to complaints received for the area.
“During this operation, detectives observed Jamal Morgan engage in several suspected narcotics transactions. At approximately 9:57 PM, detectives approached Morgan and exited their unmarked vehicle identifying themselves as police. Morgan attempted to flee but was quickly detained in furtherance of the investigation,” police said.
The ACPD said Morgan was found to be in possession of numerous individual baggies of crack cocaine amounting to approximately 3 grams and $103.00 in US currency, at which time he was placed in custody.
“A subsequent search incident to arrest revealed a loaded revolver handgun concealed in a satchel Morgan was carrying. It was also learned Morgan was wanted for several outstanding warrants. The investigation was led by Detective Alberto Valles with the assistance of Detectives Eric Evans and Nick Berardis,” the department aid.
Jamal Morgan, 25, of Mays Landing was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS, distribution of CDS within 1000 feet of a school, and possession of a weapon during a CDS distribution offense.
