Cumberland Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department has issued the following police blotter reports regarding incidents that involved police response over the past several days. These incidents were reported and released as-is by the department. The CPD responds to numerous calls per day for police service. This list does not represent all calls for service during that period. The CPD reminds residents that all suspects listed in this police blotter are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Monday, August 29, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Darlene Szlama. The warrant was issued in connection with an incident that occurred in Frostburg, MD. Charges were filed against Szlama by the Frostburg City Police Department and a warrant was issued. Szlama was arrested and transported to Central Booking. She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on a $2,500 unsecured personal bond.

CHARGES: Assault-2nd Degree (x3), Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing & Hindering, Resisting Arrest

On Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at approximately 12:03 AM, a Cumberland police officer conducted a traffic stop on E. Industrial Blvd at Canal Parkway. After investigation into the stop, one of the passengers identified as Karen Moreland, was found to be in possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. Moreland was issued a criminal citation and released from the scene.
