Police Investigating After Man Found Shot Multiple Times in Glen Burnie

GLEN BURNIE, MD – Police are investigating a murder that took place Wednesday morning in Glen Burnie after finding a man shot multiple times, dead.

According to police, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Anne Arundel County Police Officers responded to a reported shooting in the 400 block of M Street North East in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Officers discovered an adult male inside a residence suffering from gunshot wounds.

“Lifesaving efforts by both Police and Fire Department personnel were unsuccessful, and the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.” police said.

The victim has been identified as Matthew Anthony Ponder, 27, of Glen Burnie.

The Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit in now handling the homicide investigation investigation. Detectives and forensic investigators processed the scene and canvassed the area for witnesses and any information related to the incident.

“At this time, the investigation is active and ongoing. This incident appears to have been targeted, and no ongoing threat to public safety is believed to exist,” police said.

According to police investigating the incident, no suspects or motives have been announced at this time. No arrests have been made.
