Newark man beaten and robbed

Newark, New Jersey- The Newark police department is searching for a suspect who allegedly beat and robbed amen on Broadway, taking his cellphone and wallet containing $200.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé, the Newark police department seeks the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male in connection with a robbery that occurred on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Police responded to the 200 block of Broadway on a call of a robbery. A male victim was struck and kicked by a male suspect who demanded his money.

“The attack caused the victim to fall to the ground, where the suspect removed his cell phone and wallet containing $200.00. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries,” police reported.

Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying the suspect, described as a Black male with long dreadlocks and wearing a white T-shirt and ripped blue jeans.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this individual to call the Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
