Woman shot during Father’s Day basketball game in New York City dies

NEW YORK, NY – A 25-year-old woman who was shot in the neck at a New York City separate Father’s Day basketball game at Ha five boroughs of New York City in New York City-Nelson playground in Morris Heights has died from her injuries according to the New York City Police Department.

Jelani Green shot at around 9 p.m. On June 19th and was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital where she remained until her death on Tuesday.

Green, according to the New York City Police Department was an innocent bystander and not the intended target of the attack.

This year’s annual Father’s Day basketball tournament was held to coincide with juneteenth and it was a celebration of both holidays according to the New York City Police Department.

According to police investigating the incident, no suspects or motives have been announced at this time. No arrests have been made.
