Utica Police announced the arrest of an automotive employee who stole $8,000 from business

UTICA, NY – the Utica Police Department is investigating after a local business reported the theft of a large sum of money that was intended to be used for the purchase of inventory.

In early August 2022 owners of DDS Motor Sports contacted the Utica Police Department regarding a theft of a large sum of money that was originally supposed to be used to purchase repair parts.

“While looking through inventory reports, it was learned that the same employee entrusted with the money had taken money from customers and not ordered other parts as promised, thus the customer never received their order. The owners further looked at the employees records and noticed additional transactions that were suspicious in nature,” The Utica Police Department said in the statement.

As the total amount of theft exceeded $8,000 an investigator with the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned the case. After compiling all the necessary paperwork and evidence, the investigator charged Michael Tuttle age 30 of Rome with Grand Larceny in the third degree.
