New York City woman dies after being impaled on fence after struck by car

New York, NY- The New York City Police Department reported that a Bronx woman impaled on a fence during a crash Friday night has died from her injuries.

According to police, Paulina Nrecaj, 59, was struck by a Lexus SUV in front of our apartment building located at 2040 Bronxdale Avenue at around 6 p.m. Friday evening. Witnesses reported back to the SUV jumped the curb and pushed the woman into a nearby metal fence sending a spike through her body.

Family members today told the media that Paulina was a stay-at-home mom and a grandmother who was just on her way to get a pizza for dinner.

Police said the SUV driver lost control of the vehicle when he swerved to avoid a van that appeared to be stopped at the intersection of Bronxdale and Krueger Avenues.
