Man Shot To Death In D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 63 year-old man that was shot to death in Southeast D.C. on September 5th has died. John Murphy succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. Detectives from the Washington D.C. Metro Police Homicide Unit are investigating this incident, which happened on the 1700 block of Minnesota Avenue.

According to investigators, “At approximately 4:28 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. On Thursday, September 8, 2022, the victim succumbed to their injuries and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. As a result of an autopsy, the manner of death was ruled a homicide.”

63-year-old John Murphy of Southeast, D.C. was identified as the victim.
