Man Shot on Own Front Porch After Words Exchanged with Three Passing Suspects

AKRON, OH – An Akron man was shot while sitting on his front porch after three men approach him and exchanged words. That he did exchange turned violent when one of the suspects pulled a gun and fired multiple shots and struck him once in the arm.

“A 47-year-old resident in the 800 block of Merton Avenue reported being shot Friday night around 9:20 p.m. According to the victim, he was on his porch when three unknown males walked by. At some point, words were exchanged, and one of the suspects in the group fired multiple shots. One of the bullets struck the victim in the arm,” the Akron Police Department said in a statement today.

The suspect fled the scene southbound following the shooting.

“The victim was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury,” police said. “Detectives are working to identify the subjects involved in this incident and are asking the community for their assistance.”
