18-year-old from Maple Shade accidentally shoots and kills friend

Maple Shade, NJ- A 19-year-old male was shot and killed in Maple Shade Friday morning at around 3:45 am. Police here said that an 18-year-old male was arrested after accidentally discharging a gun at the victim’s home.

Police officers from the Maple Shade Police Department arrived at the scene inside a home on South Coles Avenue to find a 19-year-old male had been taken to the hospital before their arrival.

Nasiah Carson was treated at Cooper University Medical Center in Camden and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigators today said the shooting appears to have been accidental. According to police, Carson and Jah-son Jones were playing with a firearm they believed to be unloaded when Jones pointed the gun and pulled the trigger, striking Carson.

Although the shooting was accidental, Jones has been charged with reckless manslaughter and several weapons-related charges.
