Fleeing moped strikes New York City Police Department cruiser, bursts into flames

New York, NY- A suspect fleeing officers of the New York City Police Department on a moped at a high rate of speed crashed into a New York City police cruiser in Queens last night at around 7 p.m.

The incident caught on camera shows a New York City police cruiser shopping at the intersection of Merrick Boulevard and Liberty Avenue. According to police, the suspect was fleeing officers when the cruiser stopped at the corner to block the moped driver’s path.

In the video, the police cruiser stopped, and the moped struck the vehicle on the driver’s side, then burst into flames.

The crash happened at around 12:30 a.m. on Friday after the suspect fled play Shots Fired incident near 186th Street and Jamaica Avenue.

Officers in the cruiser immediately exited the vehicle and apprehended the suspect while providing medical aid.

The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Love Olatunji-Ojo, who suffered only minor injuries from the crash. However, he was arrested and charged with multiple charges.
