Highly Anticipated Texas Roadhouse is Coming to Toms River

TOMS RIVER, NJ – A public notice published last week indicates that a Texas Roadhouse restaurant is coming to the Ocean County mall complex in Toms River. A plenary retail consumption license has been issued to Ocean Ventures, LLC as a pocket license for Texas Roadhouse Holdings, LLC.

The license is attached to 1201 Hooper Avenue, which is the address of the Ocean County Mall.

Simon Property Group, the property management firm for the mall, has not publicly released any information about the possible addition of Texas Roadhouse. Likewise, Texas Roadhouse Inc., the owner of the popular restaurant chain, has also not issued a public release about the new restaurant.

At this point, it does appear highly likely that the chain is coming to the Ocean County Mall complex in Toms River.

While no formal announcement has been made, many residents were hoping the former Charlie Brown’s restaurant at the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Kettle Creek Road could one day become a Texas Roadhouse; a public notice for a liquor license was issued by Toms River Township officials last week.

Charlie Brown’s in Toms River has been closed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the chain has since committed re-opening one New Jersey restaurant.

Texas Roadhouse is planning on coming to Toms River. The address in the public notice shows the location in the Ocean County Mall shopping complex. It would be an ideal spot for the restaurant. The closest Texas Roadhouse to Toms River is on Route 9 in Howell Township.

Texas Roadhouse is a much anticipated and requested addition by residents on social media. It would be the first location in Ocean County. Aside from Howell, the chain operates in Hamilton, Holmdel, Old Bridge, and Egg Harbor. There is also a Texas Road House across the Delaware River in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

At this point, the development of the restaurant is in the early stages as no applications have been formally submitted to the Toms River Township zoning or planning board for hearing or approval.
