Elderly man shot in moped drive-by shooting in New York City

NEW YORK, NY – A 75-year-old man was shot by a gunman who was a passenger aboard a scooter being driven along East 180th Street on Sunday.

The man, who police suspect was not the intended target, was shot in the left thigh as he was walking down the street. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, according to the New York City Police Department, and is recovering from his injuries at this time.

The suspects fled the scene, and police have not made any arrests.

Police said the two men on the moped passed by the area of 921 East 180th Street at around 2:43 pm when the passenger fired multiple shots. No other injuries were reported.
