Jersey Shore school teacher charged for inappropriate relationship with student

MAYS LANDING, NJ – after a month-long investigation by the Atlantic City County prosecutor’s office, the agency’s Special Victims Unit found that an Atlantic City High School teacher had an inappropriate relationship with a student in the school.

Investigators allege Joseph A. Scalfaro, 47, of Absecon engaged and an inappropriate affair with a student both on and off school property. The identity, age, and gender of the students were not revealed by the police.

He was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, criminal sexual contact, and official misconduct.

Scalfaro was taken into custody in Atlantic City and was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. This continues to be an active investigation.
