13-year-old shot in Swissvale in critical condition

Swissvale, PA- A 13-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen by another 13-year-old, according to police. BFF happened at around 2:40 p.m. on Friday. Police were notified of the shooting that took place on the 7500 block of Short Street and responded to find one 13-year-old male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdominal area.

The boy was transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

The Swissvale Police Department investigated and is now joined by the Allegheny County Police Department homicide unit as the investigation continues.

The shooter was identified as another 13-year-old male. Police charged the teenager with aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, recklessly endangering another person, and person not to possess a firearm.

Police said the suspect will be charged as a juvenile.
