Driver dead after crashing into home in Rockville

ROCKVILLE, MD – A 23-year-old man was found dead after crashing his Ford Mustang GT convertible into a home on Upton Street in Rockville Tuesday morning.

According to the police, 23-year-old, Tyler James Lightcap, for unknown reasons, left the roadway and crashed into a home on the 100 block of Upton Street.

“At approximately 6:33 a.m., officers from the Rockville City Police Department and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to a suspicious situation reported at the location. Responding units located a grey 2014 Ford Mustang GT Convertible on a lawn in the 100 block of Upton Street that had been involved in a collision,” the Montgomery County Police Department said in a statement today. “The initial investigation by detectives has determined that the driver of the Ford was traveling westbound on Beall Avenue, when for reasons unknown, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a house in the 100 block of Upton Street.”

Lightcap was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown what contributed to the crash at this time.
