13-year-old boy shot in the head, killed in Philadelphia overnight

The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating another senseless incident of gun violence that claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy in West Oak Lane Monday night.

The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating another senseless incident of gun violence that claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy in West Oak Lane Monday night.

According to police Jeremiah Wilcox sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and face at around 7 p.m. in the area of 65th Avenue and Smedley Street.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said that when officers arrived on the scene, they found the Young boy lying on the sidewalk, bleeding heavily from his face and head.

He was rushed to Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead approximately 2 hours after arriving.

At this time, please do not have any suspects in custody. Investigators determined that the boy was walking along the street when he was approached by two males who may have been the gunmen.

Police are asking witnesses to come forward to assist the department and solving the murder and putting those responsible away. Investigators are hoping members of the community are willing to tell officers what they saw last night.
