Cleveland, OH – A 100-year-old Ohio doctor says he’s not ready to retire after being named the world’s oldest doctor by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Howard Tucker, born on July 10, 1922 still works 9 am to 6 pm every day at his Cleveland, Ohio practice. He even survived COVID-19 after contracting it shortly after his 100th birthday this summer.
On top of all that, Doctor Tucker served during both World War II and the Korean War.
Despite the risk of contracting COVID-19 at work and being in an at-risk category, Dr. Tucker says he’s not ready to quit.
“Gosh, no! I believe retirement is the enemy of longevity. Even in my younger years, I never once contemplated retirement,” he said.
“I truly love what I do so going into the hospital to treat my patients was a no-brainer. As a physician, it is my responsibility to care for my patients,” he said. “I obviously took the necessary precautions to stay safe and protect myself, but I still went to work like any other day.”

He has been a practicing doctor for 75 years.
