Del Rio Sector Agents Arrest Man Convicted of Manslaughter

Del rio, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector arrested a man convicted of manslaughter shortly after he illegally entered the United States, Oct. 17.

At approximately 12 p.m., Uvalde Station agents conducting line watch operations encountered three subjects attempting to avoid detection. All subjects were transported to the Uvalde Border Patrol Station. During processing, record checks revealed that one subject, Abraham Maldonado-Perez, 35, a Mexican national, was convicted of manslaughter, in Dallas, in 2010. He was sentenced to three years confinement and most recently removed from the United States in 2013.

As a convicted felon, he faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – Re-entry after Deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

During fiscal year 2022, Oct. 1, 2021, through Aug. 31, 2022, Del Rio Sector agents encountered more than 1,708 criminal migrants.

All subjects are processed in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection policies.
