Nearby Hunters cause Panic at Whiting Elementary School

MANCHESTER TWP, NJ – students at the Whiting Elementary School were held briefly at the school during dismissal after the report of gunshots in the area. While the Manchester Police Department said there was no immediate threat to the school or the children, police investigated the incident to find the gunshots were caused by hunters.

Manchester Police Department said licensed and legal Hunters responded approximately three-quarters of a mile from the school, prompting concern.

After the police investigated, the students were released. The Manchester Police Department did not announce any citations or arrests in this incident.
