Groundskeeper carjacked while driving Kubota through nursing home

Galloway Township, NJ- A maintenance worker at the seashore Gardens Elder housing community was carjacked as he was driving his Kubota through the grounds of the facility Thursday afternoon.

According to police, at around 12:51 p.m., officers responded to the nursing home after a suspect was witnessed burglarizing vehicles in the parking lot.

When police arrived on the scene, they were met by a maintenance worker at the complex who said he was just carjacked while riding his Kubota.

Police spotted Jeremiah Adejaiye, 19, of Medford, New York, who attempted to flee, but was captured after a short Chase.

Galloway Township detective said Adejaiye opened the door to the Kubota Utility vehicle, while the worker was driving, assaulted him, and pulled him from the vehicle, throwing him to the ground.

“Adejaiye then got into the vehicle and started to drive off with it. Upon the arrival of the police, Adejaiye exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot, before being apprehended and arrested. The maintenance worker, despite being assaulted, was uninjured and declined medical assistance,” Police reported.

He was charged with carjacking, robbery, and three counts of criminal attempted burglary.
