Attempted luring of child at school bus stop reported in Manchester

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – A young girl was the victim of an attempted luring incident in Manchester on Friday as she was walking home after being droppped off by her school bus on Northhampton Boulevard.

According to the Manchester Police Department, the young girl was approached by an Asian male driving a white four-door sedan.

The girl’s mother called police and reported that her daughter exited the school bus, a white four-door sedan with tinted windows pulled up and made multiple gestures for the female to enter his vehicle. The incident happened at around 2:39 pm.

On October 21, 2022, at approximately 2:39 pm, the Manchester Township Police received a call reporting

“The female immediately ran into her residence and told her family,” accoring to Manchester Police Department Captain Vincent Manco. “The suspect vehicle was last seen driving on Monmouth Ave. toward Champlain St.”

Manco said a large police presence responded to the area and a description of the vehicle and driver was provided to nearby school buses. Police attempted to find video footae of the suspect but wer unable to locate any from neighborhood doorbell video.

“Our children’s and our community’s safety is our department’s and school district’s number one priority. Rest assured that all investigatory steps are being taken to resolve this incident and to continue keeping our community safe,” Manco said.
