Two teens arrested at Cape Henlopen football game, alcohol suspected

CAPE HENLOPEN, DE – Police arrested two juvenile suspects after a fight broke out at a Cape Henlopen football game against South Sussex High School. Police responded to the fight at around 7:45 pm during the Golden Knights 42-14 loss to the Vikings.

Delaware State Police officers working security at the football game intervened when a fight broke out between a 16-year-old and 17-year-old. During the altercation, an officer was struck in the face.

Both teens were arrested and taken into custody. The 16-year-old suspect resisted arrested, and the DSP said they detected the teen was impaired by alcohol and found 17.46 grams of marijuana after his arrest.

Both were charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The 16-year-old was also charged with underage consumption of alcohol. The 17-year-old is also facing charges of hindering prosecution and offensive touching of a police officer.
