Candian man charged for bomb threat at children’s hospital

Boston Children's Hospital

Police in Boston have identified the man who made a bomb threat at the Boston Children’s Hospital in September. He was also connected to several other bomb threats made throughout the city in the days following the September 9th threat at BCH.

A joint investigation by the Boston Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, and the Peterborough Police Service in Canada led detectives to Joshua Kimble, 42, of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

“Beginning on September 9, 2022, a series of bomb threats were transmitted online to Boston Children’s Hospital,” the Boston Police Department said. “Over the next four days, several more bomb threats were transmitted and received at the Prudential Center, the Orpheum Theater, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Boston Public Library.”

Investigators soon realized each threat was similar and that one person was behind all of them. Police in Canada joined the investigation and eventually arrested Kimble at his home.

Kimble is in custody in Canada awaiting trial in Canada. He was charged with 12 counts of false information, 12 counts of public mischief and failing to comply with a probation order.
