“Two Forest Hills officers encountered the male on Yost Boulevard near Ardmore Manor Drive. Officers attempted to speak with the male who was walking in the street on Yost Boulevard,” the Allegheny County Police Department said today. “The male produced a handgun and fired the gun at officers. The officers returned fire, striking the male multiple times.”

The suspect, who remains unidentified, was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. One of the responding officers was struck in the pants by the gunfire but was not injured.
