70-year-old man killed in Route 32 crash

SYKESVILLE, MD – A 70-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Route 32. Police are continuing their investigation into the accident that occurred at approximately 12:56 p.m.

According to police, a 2014 Honda CRV was traveling southbound on Route 32 near the Carroll County line when it was struck by a 2019 Ford Edge making a left turn from northbound Route 32 toward West Friendship Road.

The driver of the Honda, Arthur Henry Landerman Jr., 70, of Sykesville, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center but was pronounced dead there.

A male adult driver from Sykesville was transported to Shock Trauma with non-life-threatening injuries.

A third vehicle was struck as a result of the initial crash; however, its driver was not injured.

Route 32 was closed for approximately four hours.

The investigation is ongoing.
