Man who assaulted woman, a man with box cutter in Hackensack arrested

HACKENSACK, NJ – A suspect wanted for slashing a 32-year-old woman and 60-year-old man with a box cutter in the area of Hudson Street and Broadway on Tuesday has been arrested.

Hackensack police officers arrested Jermaine Frye for several criminal charges regarding an aggravated assault investigation

According to the Hackensack Police Department, officers arrived to the scene after receiving calls regarding a man with a knife.

Upon their arrival, they learned the two individuals had been assaulted. They were treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Through an investigation, detectives learned that a 61-year-old male and a 32-year-old female, both from Hackensack, were involved in a dispute with Frye in the middle of the street.

“During the dispute, Frye brandished a box cutter style knife and assaulted the male and female,” the Hackensack Police Department reported. “The male suffered a laceration to his one of his extremities, while the female suffered a puncture wound to her torso area. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.”

Frye was arrested on scene without incident, and the box cutter-style knife was recovered.
