NYPD investigating near-fatal shooting in Inwood

On Monday, December 26, 2022, at approximately 1140 hours, a male individual engaged in a verbal dispute with a 26-year-old male victim inside of a residential building located in the vicinity of West 205th Street and 10th Avenue. As the dispute turned physical, the individual displayed a firearm and fired multiple gunshots in the direction of the victim striking him in the neck and back. EMS responded and transported the victim to MYC Health + Hospitals / Harlem in critical condition.

New York, NY – Detectives with the New York City Police Department’s 34th Precinct are investigating a December 26th attempted murder. On Friday, the NYPD released photos of the alleged suspect in that shooting, who has since eluded police.

According to police, on December 26, at approximately 11:40 am, two men were engaged in a verbal altercation inside a building on West 205th Street near 10th Avenue.

At one point, the suspect pulled a gun and fired multiple shots at the 26-year-old male victim. He was struck in the neck and back, The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem where he was listed in critical condition.

The NYPD described the suspect as a male in his 40s, dark-skinned, approximately 6’2″ tall and 180lbs. The suspect was later identified as Omar Nunez.
