Mother and father who killed 8-month-old child, fled, face murder charges after capture

COLUMBUS, OH – A mother and father who were wanted by police for killing their 8-month-old baby boy have been arrested after fleeing the Columbus area where the incident happened.

According to police, Savanna Dawson, 23, and Kyrios March Jr., 24, were taken into custody Friday morning after Columbus Police Homicide Detectives became aware of their location in Perry County, Ohio.

On January 9th, Columbus police officers responded to the couple’s Hiawatha Street address to find 8-month-old Marquel Smith dead. His parents were gone.

Police suspect the couple fled and filed murder charges as a statewide hunt for the fugitive murder suspects were on the run.

Both suspects were booked into the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. The Columbus Division of Police will extradite Ms. Dawson and Mr. March to face murder charges in Franklin County early next week once their extradition waivers are received.
