93-year-old man crashes car through Toms River bank lobby

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Luckily, nobody was injured on Wednesday after a 93-year-old Toms River man drove his car through a bank lobby on Route 9.

Police arrived at the TD Bank located at 2338 Route 9 at around 1:00 pm after receiving a 911 call regarding a vehicle crashing into a building.

When police arrived, they found 93-year-old Anthony Marino had driven across Route 9 and accelerated his vehicle, striking a street sign and light pole before crashing into the bank’s lobby.

The initial investigation revealed that while attempting to make a left turn onto Route 9, Anthony Marino, 93 of Toms River, accelerated and travelled across the highway and onto the property striking a support wire, a street sign, a light post and then struck the bank before coming to rest in the bank lobby.

“Mr. Marino was uninjured in the collision, he was issued a summons for careless driving. A witness was struck by debris and suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision,” the Toms River Police Department said in a statement. “The building was deemed structurally safe by the Toms River Township building inspector.”

No injuries were reported in the incident.
