Leonardtown, MD – A St. Mary’s County fast food worker who has been playing the lottery for 18 years finally hit paydirt. She won $50,000 on a scratch-off ticket sold at the Faststop in Leonardtown this week.

“I’ve been trying to win some big money,” said the happy woman who hasn’t been in luck’s favor with her lottery experience.

After realizing she had won, she hid the ticket.

“I took that ticket everywhere with me,” she said, laughing at the memory. She even took it to work and kept it safe from prying eyes until she could claim the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “I kept it close to my heart.”

She plans on taking a vacation and saving the rest of the money.
