One dead in Wilkes-Barre shooting

WILKES-BARRE, PA – Police have reported that a male victim was shot and killed overnight in Wilkes-Barre. Police responded to the area of Coal Street and Meade Street just before midnight on Monday.

Multiple 911 callers were reporting shots fired in the neighborhood.

“Officers arrived on scene and found a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department said today. “Officers initiated life saving measures until the arrival of paramedics who transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

The male victim died at the hospital a short time later.

At this time, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been described.
