Suspect arrested in Brooklyn jewelry store robbery and shooting

NEW YORK, NY – Police in Brooklyn have arrested 45-year-old Joseph Gonzalez for an armed robbery of a jewelry store that left one person shot.

Gonzalez was charged with attempted murder, robbery, robbery, burglary, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Detectives with the city’s 72nd Precinct investigating the February 5th robbery and shooting identified Gonzalez during the investigation.

On that day, at around 2 pm, an unidentified man, later identified as Gonzalez, entered A&M Jewelry at 4814 5th Avenue. Gonzalez brandished a gun a fired it, striking a 24-year-old employee in the torso. He was transported by EMS to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, in stable condition.
