Two charged for shooting death of God Allah in Asbury Park

ASBURY PARK, NJ – Police in Asbury Park have arrested and charged two men in connection with the shooting death of God Allah on February 2.

Eddy Vilus, aged 30, and Quamere M. Smith, 31, both residents of Asbury Park, were charged with involvement in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old God Allah from the same town.

Authorities apprehended Vilus on Friday, February 10th and brought charges of first-degree Murder, first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Arson, third-degree Hindering Apprehension of Oneself and Another, and third-degree Theft against both him and Smith.

The latter was presented with his indictments at MCCI during detainment for a distinct incident.

At approximately 2:15 p.m. Thursday, February 2, members of the Asbury Park Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at Ridge and Springwood Avenues. In that location, the officers found Allah, who had sustained a gunshot wound. After being transported to Jersey Shore Regional Medical Center, he was pronounced dead shortly before 2:45 p.m.

According to the MCPO Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department, Vilus and Smith were responsible for the murder of Allah. Smith was charged with hindering for destroying evidence.

The detention hearings for Vilus and Smith are pending at the MCCI.
