Shady Side man threatened 12-year-old with knife, police report

SHADY SIDE, MD – Police officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department working in Shady Side arrested a 42-year-old man accused of threatening two people with a knife, including a 12-year-old child.

According to police, on Sunday, at approximately 12:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault that had just occurred in the 5200 block of Nick Road in Shady Side.

“The complainant informed officers that a male subject at the residence, who was believed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol, threatened a 12-year-old and 24-year-old with a knife,” AACPD said in a statement today. “When officers arrived, the suspect retreated inside the residence and refused to exit.”

Police established a perimeter and evacuated the home of innocent individuals. Officers were assisted by a police K9 to finally get the man to come out of the home and surrender.

42-year-old Paul Brown was arrested and charged accordingly.
