Police officer responding to gunshot call ambush by perp

DUQUESNE, PA – A Duquesne police officer was met with gunfire and struck once while responding to a shots-fired call in Catherine Street and Savey Street overnight.

According to the Allegheny County Police Department, now investigating the incident, at approximately 12:18 a.m., a 911 call was made regarding shots fired in Catherine Street and Savey Street.

“A Duquesne police officer arrived on the scene and was immediately met by gunfire. The officer returned fire, striking the suspect in the leg,” ACPDs said. “The officer sustained a gunshot wound to the foot.”

Other officers responding at the scene were able to take the suspect into custody. The suspect and officer were transported to area hospitals and are in stable condition.
