Police investigating fatal shooting of teen in District Heights

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD – A 17-year-old Suitland boy was shot and killed on Thursday in District Heights. Police are now offering a cash reward for help in identifying the suspect.

A fatal shooting occurred Thursday evening in District Heights, which is being investigated by the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit. Approximately $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of Lorenzo Marquette Freeman, a 17-year-old Suitland resident. 

As a result of a shooting on February 23, 2023, officers responded to the 6700 block of Alpine Street at approximately 6:55 pm. Officers located the victim inside an apartment building suffering from a gunshot wound. A few hours later, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigators are attempting to identify the suspect(s) and determine the motive for the incident. 

In District Heights, all homicides are investigated by the Prince George’s County Police Department.
