BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – A young gray seal pup stopped traffic on Route 35 in Brick Township on Monday. Police officers with the Brick Township Police Department, with the assistance of passersby, were able to stop traffic until marine mammal stranding officials were able to arrive on the scene.

Police officers with the help of a volunteer from the Marine Mammal Stranding Center were able to keep the young lost seal safe until the center dispatched a stranding technician to safely remove the seal.

She was brought to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center for observation.
