75-year-old killed in crash near Felton

FELTON, DE – A fatal single-vehicle collision occurred Thursday afternoon in the Felton area, according to Delaware State Police.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on March 2, 2023, a 2013 Mazda 5 was traveling eastbound on Carpenters Bridge Road east of Roesville Road, Felton, approaching a moderate right curve. Unknown reasons led the Mazda to cross the westbound lane and travel off the north edge of the road. It then struck a tree in its front.

A 75-year-old male operator from Frederica was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An identification of the victim is pending notification of the next of kin.

During the investigation and clearing of Carpenters Bridge Road, Carpenters Bridge Road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours.
