Multiple firefighters injured at fast spreading multi-home blaze in Queens

NEW YORK, NY – A fire reported overnight in the area of 37-18 59th Street in the Woodside neighborhood of Queens gutted several homes as high winds quickly spread the fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find multiple structures on fire Tuesday evening. The fire was contained early Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported at around 5:45 pm.

At least eight firefighters were reportedly injured in the blaze that was made worse by whipping winds.

Multiple families were displaced from their homes, according to FDNY. Thirty-plus mile-per-hour winds spread the fire quickly, damaging four adjacent buildings.

The firefighters are all being treated for non-critical injuries.
