Ranking NYPD narcotics detective arrested for DWI

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department has arrested and charged Donald Stewart, a Lieutenant with the department, with driving while impaired early Saturday morning. He was arrested by an officer at the 81st Precinct in Brooklyn shortly before 5 am. He was off duty at the time of his arrest.

The 43-year-old veteran joined the force in 2002.

In 2014, he was found guilty of driving while under the influence and placed on a 12 month dismissal probation by the NYPD.

He currently serves as Lt. Commander Detective at the Queens South Narcotics Bureau. He previously served in the Brooklyn South gang unit. He earns $212,000 annually.
