NYC cop puts out brush fire at Staten Island high school

STATEN ISLAND, NY – As students were dismissed from the South Richmond High School in Staten Island on Monday, officer Lemnaizi smelled smoke coming from the rear of the building. Lemnaizi sprung into action, grabbing the school’s fire extinguisher and putting out a small brush fire in a wooded area several yards behind the school.

Students were dismissed on time and the fire was contained.

“During dismissal at South Richmond High School Level 3 Lemnaizi smelled smoke coming from the rear of the building. Several yards away he saw smoke in the wooded area. He sprang into action and used the school’s fire extinguisher to put out the brush fire,” the NYPD said, thanking the quick thinking of the officer.
