17-year-old shot and killed in Brownsville section of Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – A 17-year-old male was shot and killed by an unknown suspect in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn on Wednesday.

According to police, Graig Bassett was gunned down just a block from his Prospect Place home at around 5 pm.

Detectives with the 73rd Precinct reported an unknown suspect approached Bassett in the area of 396 Saratoga Avenue. The suspect pulled a gun and, without provocation, shot Bassett in the chest and fled the scene.


Bassett was taken to Interfaith Medical Center by NYFD EMS, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The suspect is described as a male in his late teens or early 20s with a dark complexion, medium build, black hair, and brown eyes. He was last observed wearing black sneakers with a Nike logo on the side, black pants, a black jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black facemask.
