17-year-old charged for possession of loaded gun

DORCHESTER, MA – A 17-year-old was arrested and charged after Boston Police Department officers found a loaded handgun in his possession.

The incident happened shortly after 3 pm on Wednesday.

“Members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a 17-year-old male from Dorchester on firearm related charges following an investigation in the area of Clarkson Street and Quincy Street in Dorchester,” the BPD announced. “The suspect was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun in his waistband during a pat frisk after being stopped by the officers.”

The suspect will appear in Dorchester Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.

His name was not released.
