Maryland State Police Investigate Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Garrett County

GRANTVILLE, MD – Brandy Jo McKenzie, a 37-year-old woman from Oakland, Maryland, died in a two-vehicle crash in Garrett County yesterday morning. According to the Maryland State Police, the driver of a Ford Taurus, McKenzie, was traveling north on MD Route 495 when for unknown reasons, she entered the southbound lane after exiting a right-hand curve and struck a Ram 1500.

The crash caused the Taurus to catch fire, which spread to the front of the Ram. The driver of the Ram refused medical treatment on the scene. The Maryland State Police Crash team is leading the investigation, and anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information related to it is asked to contact the Maryland State Police Crash Team at 301-387-1101.

MD Route 495 was closed in both directions for more than two hours, and personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration and the Natural Resources Police responded to the scene.
