Yorkville man arrested with loaded gun during traffic stop in Utica

UTICA, NY – On Tuesday, Toddreek Weathers, 23, of Yorkville was arrested after being found with a loaded Glock handgun during a vehicle stop on the 1400 block of Whitesboro St.

Officers with the Crime Prevention Unit were conducting proactive enforcement when they conducted the vehicle stop. As the officers began to speak with the occupants, they noticed the gun. The male passenger fled from the officers and after a brief foot pursuit, he was taken into custody behind 1508 Whitesboro St.

The handgun was recovered and Weathers was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, and obstruction of governmental administration.

The operator was issued multiple citations for the NYSV&TL violations. The Utica Police Department is committed to ensuring public safety and will continue to proactively enforce laws to protect citizens.”
