WASHINGTON, D.C. – Violence continued on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., as police investigate another killing of a teenager in the city.
On Tuesday, gunfire erupted in the 2200 block of Alabama Avenue at around 9:00 pm.
When police arrived, they found two juveniles with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the roadway. One of those teens, 16-year-old Traev’on Green, was unconscious and unresponsive. Green was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second teen was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives investigating the case are asking anyone from the public who might have information regarding the incident to contact them.
At this time, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
In 2023, nineteen juveniles have been shot in Washington, D.C. compared to 12 this time last year. Violent crime is up across the board in D.C. Homicides are up 14% with 48 this year, compared to 42 this time last year. Rapes have increased by 111%. Motor vehicle theft has increased 104% and arson saw a 400% spike in 2023 so far.
