Gaithersburg Man Identified as Victim in Fatal Turkey Foot Road Accident; Investigation Ongoing

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident on Turkey Foot Road in the early hours of Tuesday.

At approximately 12:27 a.m., first responders arrived at the 14400 block of Turkey Foot Road after receiving traffic collision reports. The driver of a gray 2017 Toyota 4Runner had veered off the road and struck multiple trees before the vehicle overturned.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have identified the decedent as 48-year-old Mark Sampson, a resident of Gaithersburg. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and detectives are working to determine why the vehicle left the roadway.
